Department of Journalism hosts reunion dinner to celebrate 50th anniversary of School of Communication

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the School of Communication, the Department of Journalism held a Reunion Dinner on 29 June.

In her opening speech, Professor Alice Lee, Head of the Department of Journalism, remarked that the Department has four main scopes of work, namely “to stay young”, “to go global”, “to have a prominent online presence” and “to cultivate competent knowledge workers”. She hoped that the department, its alumni and friends in the news industry will join hands to face the technological, social and political challenges ahead.

The reunion dinner gathered more than 250 people, including current and former journalism department heads, staff, alumni, students and guests. During the dinner, a trivia quiz was held to enable teachers, alumni and students to learn more about the department’s latest development. Moreover, alumni from different years seized the opportunity to catch up with their teachers and old friends.
