HKBU Academy of Film (AF) alumni Mr Felix Chong and Ms Oliver Chan won a number of prizes at the 38th Hong Kong Film Awards.

Project Gutenberg, which was directed by Mr Chong, snatched seven prizes, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Art Direction, and Best Costume & Make Up Design. Meanwhile, Ms Chan was named Best New Director for her film Still Human, which also bagged the Best Actor and Best New Performer awards.

President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Roland Chin congratulated the winning alumni. He said: "It is very encouraging to see the dedication, creativity and hard work of our enthusiastic film professionals recognised at these prestigious Awards. Such critical acclaim also shows that Hong Kong is full of film talents. HKBU will continue to nurture more creative young people, providing them with an excellent cinematic arts and creative media education which will enable them to reach their potential."

Professor Eva Man, Director of the AF, said: "We are proud of Ms Oliver Chan's achievements. Her feature film debut is an exceptional demonstration of both film education and humanistic solicitude. The outstanding performance of Mr Felix Chong also represents the results of his dedication and commitment to the Hong Kong film industry." Mr Felix Chong graduated from the School of Communication at Hong Kong Baptist College in 1993. He is one of the 6th HKBU Distinguished Alumni Award recipients this year. 2015 AF alumna Ms Oliver Chan studied for a Master of Fine Arts in Film, TV and Digital Media at HKBU.

On 13 April, the day before the results of the Hong Kong Film Awards were announced, AF organised a screening and sharing event for Still Human. Ms Oliver Chan and renowned actor Mr Anthony Wong were the guest speakers.
