Department of Communication Studies marks 50th Anniversary of School of Communication with seminar cum dinner

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the School of Communication (COMM), the Department of Communication Studies (COMS) hosted a seminar cum dinner on 13 September.

Officiating at the ceremony, Professor Huang Yu, Associate Vice-President (Mainland) and Dean of COMM, praised the School’s alumni for their distinguished performance and the great contributions they have made to society. He encouraged alumni to support the School by sharing their valuable experiences with current students and helping them maintain standards when working in the communication sector. Other officiating guests included Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), and Professor Vivian Sheer, Head of the COMS.

At the seminar before dinner, participants led by veteran alumni shared their views on three topics, namely the prevailing trend of digital marketing in the advertising industry, the “haters” culture affecting the public relations field, and ways for the new generation to uphold the attributes of communication practitioners.
